Presentation

Presenting what I had done so far was helpful and I am ready to wrap it up. One of the things that I found was just how easy it was to put the finished project on my teacher web page. I look forward to adding how to videos on my website that students can use to improve their skills. Another thing I found on the technical side was that I needed more light to keep the images that we film from leaving ghost trails.

There are two Physical Education standards that I will be addressing in this project.

1. Analyze and correct errors in movement patterns(2.3).

2. Provide feedback to a partner to assist in developing and improving movement skills(2.4).

There are also three national educational technology standards applicable to this project.

1. Under Research and Information Fluency students will process data and report results.

2. Under technology operations and concept, students will understand and use technology systems and select and use applications effectively and productively.

I have wanted to have my students do movement analysis for a long time now and had even made plans to buy digital cameras that take multiburst pictures so that they can actually see themselves doing the technique. The plus side to this method is that there is no processing between camera shoot and analysis but the downside is that it requires one camera for every two or three persons to avoid long periods of down time. This week on vacation I discovered that iMovie can be used as well to due the same thing. The down side is that this method requires downloading the video footage to computers that may not be available. The plus side is that video portfolios can be generated, comparisons to a model can be made, and it would require fewer camcorders. By the way, does anybody know of an inexpensive digital camera that does multiburst(multiple shots per second).
